Wilkinson and Amite counties under a heat advisory Wednesday

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory at 3:19 p.m. on Tuesday valid for Wednesday between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Beating the heat: NWS Heat safety guidelines

  • Stay hydrated: Keep yourself well-hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.
  • Seek cool shelter: Stay in an air-conditioned room.

  • Stay cool with clothing: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing to help your body stay cool.

  • For outdoor workers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recommends regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
