Suspect in custody; Shots fired during MHP pursuit in Adams County

NATCHEZ — Mississippi Highway Patrol officers have a suspect in custody who had led a chase Thursday morning in Adams County.
More details on the suspect, including his identity, are forthcoming, said MHP officer Craig James of the Public affairs division.
James confirmed that the suspect did fire multiple shots from a firearm at a state trooper while they were in pursuit. No one was injured.
The pursuit began after a traffic stop at approximately 7:02 a.m. on U.S. 61 near York Road, James said.
Officers pursued him to Lower Woodville Road and the pursuit concluded on Lincoln Heights Road where the suspect’s vehicle came to a stop and the driver continued fleeing on foot.
At approximately 9:38 a.m., he was in custody, James said.
