NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Roy Lee Carter, 63, of Natchez, who passed away on July 17, 2024, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at New Hope “The Vision Center” Baptist Church at 11 a.m. under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez and on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church.
Roy was born on Oct. 27, 1959, in Natchez to Rufus Cole and Hattie Carter. Roy received his education at both Cathedral and North Natchez High School. Roy worked for twenty-three years for Adams County. He was especially fond of his “Hilltop” family. Roy loved to play cards, dance, sip, and shoot pool. Roy was a true lover of cars and music.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rufus Cole; his grandparents, Ceasar Washington, Biven Cole and Anita Cole, and Odell Carter Sr.; one son, Roy Aljerral Flowers; one granddaughter, Jakigha Reynolds and one aunt, Bernice Cole.
Roy leaves to cherish his memories, his loving mother, Hattie Mae Carter Berkhart; his devoted grandmother who raised him, Sylvia Gooseberry Washington; three daughters, Kashar Flowers, Tequilla Rogers, and Sylvia Flowers; one brother, Tony (April) Berkhart; one aunt, Wanda (Larry) Jennings; six uncles, Richard (Shirley) Fleming, Lamont Washington, Timothy Washington, Odell Carter, Jerome (Janice) Carter and Terry (Karen) Carter; ten grandchildren, JaiOLyric Hargrave, Christian Flowers, Jakeel Reynolds, TyKeria Rogers, Miracle Flowers, JaiCeyon Watkins, Harmoni Knight, Hayleigh Watkins, Aiden Moore, and Kaiden Flowers; two special friends, Latanueal Flowers, and Angela Rogers; and a host of other extended family and friends.
