NATCHEZ – Roger Shepard Powell, 84, of Natchez, died peacefully on July 24, 2024.

Roger was born on Nov. 19, 1939, in Natchez, to parents Daisy Frost Powell and Honor Robert Powell.

He attended Natchez High School before studying engineering at Mississippi State University. After receiving his degree, he returned to Natchez and went to work for Jordan, Kaiser, and Sessions, where he spent the majority of his successful career.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Honor Powell; mother, Daisy Powell, and brother, Robert “Bobby” Powell.

He is survived by his children, Joshua Powell (Ashley) and Amanda D’Abusco (Matt); grandchildren, Shepard and John; brother, Lewis Powell (Melissa); sister, Peggy Gonzalez (Edmundo), sister-in-law, Pat Powell; girlfriend, Billie Lofton and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home followed by a graveside service the same day at 10 a.m. at Natchez City Cemetery.
