NATCHEZ – A hope for the future shined over the Adams County Safe Room as the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Academy held its graduation ceremony on Friday, July 12.
After a week-long intensive training in various fields such as disaster safety protocol training, physical training, classroom lectures and discussions, and many practical exercises, the cadet academy hosted their annual end of the program graduation ceremony.
During this ceremony both Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten and the rest of the sheriff’s department gathered together to honor the hard work of each cadet and the officers of Adams County Sheriff’s Office who took time in their busy schedules to teach the young cadets.
“When it comes down to it, anyone can make a difference,” Patten said Friday morning.
Throughout the event various cadets earned an array of different awards in their training and certifications in not just cadet training, but also first aid as well as disaster prevention and protocol licenses.
The event ended with a cookout for the families of the cadets.
“Remember that every single one of you, whether you turn left or you turn right, know that there is always a place for you,” Patten said addressing the cadetes. “You now have a certificate not many adults have, but most of all you have created a sense of discipline within yourself that not a lot of people have. And for that you should be proud.”
