NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Robert King Jr., 93, of Natchez, who passed away on July 14, 2024, will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Stanton officiating under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Interment will follow on Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery.
Visitation services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez, and on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church.
Robert, affectionately known as “Pepper”, was born on July 17, 1931, in Natchez, MS, to Eli Knight and Plavis King. He served honorably in the United States Air Force and was a Korean War veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jacqueline Kelly Thompson; one stepdaughter, Rhonda White; three stepsons, Melvin Morris, Tommy Kelly, and Patrick Kelly; three sisters, Elizabeth Knight Doss, Edna Turner McCoy, and Mary Turner Cameron; and one brother, Earl Lee Turner.
Robert leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Julia Kelly-King; four sons, Robert (Donna) Kelly, Rodney (Dawna) King, Keith (Janice) King, and Lee Andre King; two daughters, Pamela (Carlos) Pettiford and Sabrina (Deryl) Henderson; three stepsons, Pete (Shanta) Kelly, Dolvin Kelly, and Kenneth Kelly; one stepdaughter, Janet Morris; two sisters, Edith Turner Jackson and Mary Gladys (JB) Stanton; and one brother, Willie (Patricia) Turner Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
