ROXIE – Funeral services for Hollis Hunt Sr., 92, of Roxie, MS, who passed away on July 21, 2024, will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 1 p.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky O’Quinn officiating under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hunt Cemetery. The visitation service will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024, from noon until the service time at the church.

Hollis, affectionately known as “Pap”, was born on July 15, 1932, in Franklin County, MS, to Monroe Hunt Sr. and Minnie Jackson Hunt.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara Hunt; one son, Julius Ray Burnett; and one grandson, Michael Allen; seven brothers, Julius Ray Hunt, Monroe Hunt Jr., Rassie Hunt, BJ Hunt, Percy Lee Hunt, Curtis Ray Hunt and Freddie Hunt; three sisters, Mildred Davis, Gladys Middleton and Berdie Mae Brown.

Hollis leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Vanessa Hunt and Cassandra Allen; two sons, Hollis (Tracy) Hunt and Ronald Hunt, all of Roxie, MS; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Lee Hunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
