FERRIDAY – Funeral services for Lewis “Lin” Linfield Harrigill, 84, of Vidalia will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Glen Harrigill officiating. The family will receive friends at Young’s from 9 until the service time at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Lin was born on Friday, Sept. 1, 1939, in Oldenburg, MS, and passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant and retired after 20 years, Lin was a member of Riverside Baptist Church and served faithfully on various committees and ministries. He was a man of many talents and a hero to his family. A true jack of all trades, Lin’s skills ranged from woodworking, gunsmithing, electrical work, to many things in between. His adventurous spirit led him to see the world during his years in the military, where he served with honor and distinction. Despite his many accomplishments, Lin’s greatest joy came from his family, whom he cherished above all else, and who will forever remember him as their rock and inspiration. His legacy of love, craftsmanship, and bravery will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is reunited with his great-granddaughter, HannahBeth Nugent; parents, Louie Benjamin Harrigill and Katie Mae Zimmerman Harrigill Dunn; and sister, Mary Alice Lofton.
Those left behind to cherish Lin’s memories are his wife of 64 years, Nellie Punchard Harrigill of Vidalia; daughter, Cheryl Harrigill Blanton of Vidalia; son, Glen Harrigill, and his wife, Penny of Vidalia; granddaughter, Amber Nugent and her husband, Tres of Ridgecrest; grandsons, Jared Blanton of Dallas, TX and Paul Harrigill and his wife, Kelsi of Cullman, AL; and great-grandchildren, Hudson Malachi Nugent, Carter Allen Harrigill, Harper Elizabeth Nugent, Leah Joy Harrigill, and Hebrew Glen Nugent.
Those honoring Lin as pallbearers are Jared Blanton, Paul Harrigill, Tres Nugent, Milton Sanders, Tom Boyd, and Bobby Mulvihill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Hudson Nugent, Carter Harrigill, and Hebrew Nugent.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
