VIDALIA – Services for Marie Wheat Hammett will be at 12:30 p.m., on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Sycamore Baptist Church, Vidalia, LA with Bro. Troy Boleware officiating.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m., on Friday, July 19, at the church. The interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Natchez under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA.

Marie Wheat Hammett, 86, of Vidalia, LA, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Camelot Leisure Living.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora Lee Wheat and Harry William Wheat; loving husband of 58 years, Claude Ray Hammett; son, Mark Warren Hammett; brothers, William, Don, Joe, and Harry Jr., and sisters, Clarice, Jeraline and Jenny.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Butch Hammett, wife, Barbara, and their daughters, Rhiannon and Rani; son, Paul Hammett, his son, Jody, and daughter Ashlee; grandson, Corey Ray Hammett; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Pace (Coy), Dianne Dawson (Stanley) and Joyce Wiley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Keester Dellinger, John Money, Randy Goodwin, Jimmy Stockstill, Charlie Hugg and Edward Wheat.
