NATCHEZ – On Tuesday afternoon, Mississippi author and Vicksburg native Ellis Nassour, who wrote “Jesus Christ Superstar,” plans a meet and greet to introduce his new book, “Jesus Christ Superstar, Behind the Scenes of the Worldwide Musical Phenomenon.”

The event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at Big Muddy Inn, 411 N. Commerce St., and will include refreshments and a live performance of two songs from the musical, sung by Big Muddy Inn owner Amy Allen.

Fifty years after his first book, Nassour returns to the world of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to complete the story of how the recording of Jesus’s last six days on the earth altered the world of rock by pushing boundaries never thought to be pushed before, and follows the growth of how a show like “Jesus Christ Superstar” became a nationwide hit, and one of the most well known musicals of all time.
