NATCHEZ — Those interested in serving on the city’s planning commission have until noon on Friday to write a letter or send a resume indicating that interest and turn it in to the mayor’s office at City Hall.
The position on the planning commission has been vacant for several months since long-time member Deborah Martin resigned. Martin had served on the commission since 1992.
“We did not get much interest in the Natchez Planning Commission position that opened up with the retirement of Deborah Martin a couple of months ago,” said Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson at the city’s last board meeting on July 2. “After hearing a lot of discussion we’ve had in the last few weeks, I think we should open the application process again for those who want to serve the Natchez Planning Commission.”
It’s really not an application process, Gibson said.
“It’s a letter of interest…If anyone is qualified to serve, meaning they are civic-minded and read the news,” they should submit a letter of interest or a resume to the mayor’s office indicating that interest.
