NATCHEZ – Patsy Ann Armstrong (nee Junkin), aged 93, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, in her birthplace of Natchez, MS.
Born on June 21, 1931, to David and Evelyn Lawrence Junkin, Patsy embodied the quintessence of a Southern lady, known for her kindness, sweetness, and quiet wit.
Patsy graduated from Natchez High School and furthered her education at Rhodes College and Louisiana State University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
Throughout her life, Patsy was deeply involved in her community. She was a proud member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club, where she once served as Queen in 1950. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, and playing tennis, which she pursued with passion and joy.
Patsy was a devout member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez, where she found spiritual solace and community. She served on the Flower Guild at Trinity and her love for flowers was evident in the floral arrangements she made for the altar.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Thomas K. Armstrong, Jr. (Kathy), Allen L. Armstrong (Mary Kay), Patricia Armstrong Dunavant (David), and George W. Armstrong, IV (Tricia); her grandchildren, Trey Armstrong (Molly), Alex Armstrong (Ashley), Law Armstrong (Claire), Rob Dunavant, Jack Dunavant, Kelsey (Casey) Fowler, and Ramsey Armstrong; and her great-grandchildren, Elsie, Betsy,
Caroline, Mason, Charlotte, Landon and Lyla Armstrong, and Taylor Fowler.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Kerr Armstrong; her great-grandson, William Armstrong, and her sisters, Jean Junkin Heard and Jo Ella Junkin Martin.
Services will be held at Laird Funeral Home Chapel on July 1, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Natchez followed by interment at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home.
There will be a gathering for family and friends at Linden at noon.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Trey Armstrong, Alex Armstrong, Law Armstrong,
Rob Dunavant, Jack Dunavant, and Ramsey Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez, as a tribute to Patsy’s life and her commitment to her faith.
