Natchez man drowns after boating accident on Lake St. John

FERRIDAY, La. — A Natchez man is dead after a boating accident on Lake St. John late Saturday night.
The man, 69, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, and his wife were out for a late boat ride and had an accident when arriving back at their pier, said Brandy Spears, spokeswoman for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
“The wife sustained some injuries due to falling off the boat. The husband jumped in to help his wife and drowned,” Spears said.
The call was received by the sheriff’s office at 11:39 p.m. Saturday. No foul play is suspected. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries is handling the incident because it was a boating accident.
