One person airlifted after wreck in Ferriday involving officer pursuit

FERRIDAY, La. — One person is in the hospital after being airlifted with serious injuries following a wreck Sunday morning in Ferriday, officials said.
Richard Townsend was reportedly fleeing from Tensas Parish officers when he collided with a trailer being pulled by a truck with Texas plates near Circle K in Ferriday at approximately 9:40 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Townsend was airlifted to Trinity Medical Center with serious injuries he sustained in the wreck.
No one in the truck was injured as far as officials are aware. Townsend only struck the trailer that the truck was pulling.
Tensas Parish Sheriff’s Office is overseeing the investigation.
