NATCHEZ — The Natchez-Adams County-City Pool, a haven for families and friends, has opened its gates, inviting residents to bask in the joy and relaxation of summer.

The opening ceremony was held on Saturday, May 25, coinciding with Memorial Day weekend and the end of another school year for the kids. Now a hub of activity, the pool is ready to welcome all. 

“We have been busy, mainly Saturdays and Sundays,” said pool manager Sharika Miller. 

Here are the hours of the pool during the summer season:

Monday: Closed

Tuesday: 1 to 6 p.m.

Wednesday: 1 to 6 p.m.

Thursday: 1 to 6 p.m. 

Friday: 1 to 6 p.m.

Saturday: 1 to 6 p.m.

Sunday: 1 to 6 p.m.

The Natchez-Adams County-City Pool is committed to ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all.  Miller said the pool is in good hands with the vigilant lifeguards and the dedicated pool maintenance staff led by Ralph Daniels. The pool is also equipped with handicapped lift chairs, a testament to its commitment to accessibility for individuals with special needs and disabilities. 

The pool has rules that swimmers must follow to ensure a safe environment. Those include wearing a swimsuit at all times and not wearing cloth in the pool to prevent the drain from clogging. The entrance fee is $5, and a clear bag policy is enforced. 

The pool will offer swimming lessons for the kids. The lessons will cost $60 per kid and are 1-hour sessions on Tuesdays through Fridays. Upcoming sessions are June 18-28; July 2-12; and July 16-26.

Beyond the swimming lessons, the pool is a hub of community events, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie. From the much-anticipated adult swim night, starting every Thursday on June 13, to the invigorating water aerobics, there’s something for everyone. The pool also allows residents to host private parties, a perfect way to bond with the community and make new friends. 

“Parties for kids will be during business hours and after hours for the adults,” Miller said.
