NATCHEZ — On Saturday, the Heart of Natchez was full of art and life as art enthusiasts clothed in white walked the 100 N. Commerce St. block, also known as the Arts District of downtown Natchez.

Under the Ritz theater, though it has been boarded up for decades, a band played while people walked through the second annual “White Linen Art Walk” and examined the work of local artists and visited downtown shops. Some stopped at Frankie’s on Main for their special white Sangria cocktails, made just for the occasion.

Though there were clouds in the sky, little rain disrupted the festivities. If anything, it cooled them off. Organizer, artist and author Jax Frey and Dian Lusher with the nonprofit Downtown Natchez Alliance stood under a welcome tent passing out hand fans showing the event poster, which was for sale as was much of the art on display.

Several downtown shops, galleries and restaurants opened after hours for event patrons to browse them.

Participating galleries, stores, and restaurants included A Gallerie, Arts District Studio, Arts Natchez, Consignment & More at Jacobs, Darby’s, Frankie’s on Main, Kaelor & Co., Natchez Consign and Design, Rise and Shine, The Big Muddy Inn, The Painted Petal, and The Shops at Kress.

The event was sponsored by Home Bank, Murray Printing, Frankie’s on Main, Nest, The Natchez Coffee Shop, The Shops at Kress, and Jax Frey Art.
