NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Vivian Inez Bland Wallace, 98, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in Natchez will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. Anthony Colenburg officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 4:30 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Vivian was born March 11, 1926, in the Natchez, the daughter of Samuel Smith Bland and Justine Bland Rice. She graduated from high school and furthered her education by attending college. Vivian was retired from Singer Sewing Machine Company and Community Market. Mrs. Wallace was a member of the St. Paul AME Church where she was a Methodist class leader, YPD Director, President of Missionary Society, and Choir member. She held memberships with the NAACP, the Parent Teacher Association, and others. Vivian enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and singing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Flynn J. Wallace, Sr.; her parents; sisters, Jessie Gaylor, Neotha Sunder, and Johnetta Foster, and brothers, Jerry Rice, Curtis Bland, and Samuel Bland.
Vivian leaves to cherish her memories: sons: Flynn Wallace, Jr., Gary Wallace, Darryl Wallace, and Michael Wallace; daughters, Glyndra Jenkins, Arvis Sullivan, and Tanya Santucci; brother, Willie Rice, Jr.; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins.
