Cathedral baseball playoff run, season ends in game three

NATCHEZ — Cathedral’s 2024 baseball season came to an end in a Game three 11-0 loss to Brookhaven Academy Friday night. The loss ended the Green Wave’s MAIS 5A playoff run in the first round.
Cathedral won the second game 11-0 forcing the game three earlier Friday afternoon. Brookhaven Academy’s Avery Griffin had three hits and two RBIs in the win for the Cougars.
Brookhaven Academy got off to a hot start with four runs in the first inning. The Cougars added six runs in the fifth inning to finish off the game. Griffin had a bases clearing triple in the fifth inning.
Josh Ingram, Jackson Navarro, Owen Jordan and Drake Cox finished with one hit in the game. Cox had a triple in the third game of the series. The freshman also hit a walk-off bases clearing double with the bases loaded to run rule Brookhaven Academy in the second game.
Cathedral gave up 10 hits and committed two errors. Brookhaven Academy gave up four hits and committed one error.
