Vidalia falls to Class B Grace Christian and District 2-2A foe Oak Grove

OAK GROVE, La. — Last weekend proved to be a tough one for Vidalia High School’s varsity baseball team and it was capped off by a 12-2 loss in LHSAA District 2-2A action to the Oak Grove High School Tigers in six innings last Saturday afternoon.
Oak Grove, ranked No. 1 in the most recent Non-Select Division IV power ratings, was only up 1-0 on Vidalia after three innings of play before scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, six runs in the bottom of the fifth, and three runs in the bottom of the sixth to run-rule the Vikings.
Vidalia scored its only two runs of the game in the top of the fifth inning. The Vikings had just three base hits and their defense committed six errors. On the other hand, the Tigers had 15 base hits and committed just one error.
That loss extended the Vikings’ losing streak to four games in a row. Vidalia (8-12, 1-3) ended their regular season with a home game at the Concordia Recreation District 3 Complex at 6 p.m. Monday against Family Community Christian School for Senior Night.
Last Friday afternoon, Vidalia took on another quality opponent in Class B Grace Christian School on the road in Alexandria, La. and lost to the Warriors 3-0.
The game was scoreless through four innings before Grace Christian, ranked No. 2 in the latest Select Division V power ratings, scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and one run in the bottom of the sixth.
Vidalia out-hit Grace Christian five to three, but the Warriors took advantage of five errors by the Class 2A Vikings.
