NATCHEZ — New Orleans native and part-time Natchez resident Jax Frey will celebrate the creation of her 30,000 miniature paintings with a Little Views Mini Painting exhibit at ArtsNatchez, 425 Main St., on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.
According to the World Record Academy, Frey beat the world record for the Most Original Acrylic Paintings on Canvas by One Artist when she completed 20,000 paintings in 2017.
Frey, who moved to Natchez after Hurricane Katrina, paints familiar landmarks and images of Natchez, New Orleans, and other familiar places on 4-inch by 4-inch canvases. She sells these mini-paintings in retail stores, galleries, museums, and on her website, artbyjax.com. The mini-paintings retail for $44 each. To commemorate her accomplishment, she is offering a special price during April and May.
She said the inspiration for her paintings comes from her love and respect for her Southern culture.
Frey is also the author of The Gumbeaux Sistahs novels, which feature five southern women and their adventures.
