VIDALIA — T.J. Williams pitched seven strong innings and Clay Watts had three base hits as the Vidalia High School Vikings defeated the Avoyelles High School Mustangs 6-1 last Saturday afternoon at the Concordia Recreation District 3 Complex.
Williams held Avoyelles to just one earned run on four hits, struck out five batters, and walked none. Watts provided much of Vidalia’s offense by going 3-for-4 while Gage Cupstid had the only extra-base hit for the Vikings with a double.
With the win, Vidalia improved to 8-8 overall, just the third time this it has reached the .500 mark. The Vikings traveled to Marksville to take on the LHSAA Class 3A Marksville High School Tigers for a varsity-only game at 6 p.m. Monday.
