The circa 1895 Queen Anne-style cottage at 600 N. Martin Luther King Jr. St. was donated to the Historic Natchez Foundation in 2000 by Roane Bland and Judy Heard. In 2002, the Foundation conveyed the property to former Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell, who undertook a complete rehabilitation of the house and the neighboring building, which was once a photography studio for Charles Burns. The Rev. Leon Howard was the contractor on the project. These pictures are part of a series of before and after photographs that will run in The Natchez Democrat every Wednesday during 2024 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Historic Natchez Foundation.
