NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Fred Isaac Watkins, Jr., affectionately called “Mookie-Man”, 55, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Jackson will be held Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ God’s Son with Bishop Gregory Watkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
Fred was born March 8, 1969, the son of Willie Mae Watkins and Fred Watkins, Sr. He was a 1986 graduate of North Natchez Adams High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Alcorn State University in 1994. Mr. Watkins was a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus Christ at the Church of Jesus Christ God’s Son. Fred also was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends on Facebook.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Annie Wallace Clark, L.T. Washington, Elizabeth Morris Watkins, and Isaac Watkins, Sr., brothers, sister, uncles, and aunts.
Fred leaves to cherish his memories: brother, Alonzo Bernard, Sr., special mother, Beatrice Lewis; aunts, Gladys West (Esau), Velma Culver (Kenneth), Carrie Howard (Rev. D. W.), Madora Wallace, Pearlina Watkins; uncle, Joe Wallace (Zeda); nieces, Tywanda Berry-Dixon (Robert), Alicia Bernard, Da’Nasia Bernard and other nieces; nephews, Tyrone Bernard, Jr., Alonzo Bernard, Jr., Austin Dixon and other nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
