CHURCH HILL – Catherine Virginia “Jinny” Wagner Patterson, affectionately known as Jinny, aged 91, peacefully passed away on Feb. 26, 2024, at home surrounded by her adoring family.

Jinny was born on Oct. 5, 1932, to Adolph and Maggie Octavia Brister Wagner at their home in Church Hill, MS. Born with a twinkle in her eye, and a penchant for mischief, she was a natural storyteller known for her laughter and unwavering love for family, friends, and community. From her earliest days, she welcomed everyone with open arms and a genuine smile, never meeting a stranger. Jinny loved to lift others up, always cheering for the underdog.

She was passionate about passing down her love for hunting to younger generations, teaching countless children to hunt and leading youth hunts. Cypress Grove Hunting Club was her second home and the times that she spent there were some of the best times of her life with her best friends.

Jinny was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Maggie Octavia Brister Wagner; her beloved husband, Charles Francis “Bubba” Patterson Jr.; one cherished son, Charles Francis “Pat” Patterson III, and one brother, Adolph Wagner.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Elizabeth Rose Patterson Thompson, and husband, Eddie Thompson, of Natchez. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Shannon Goodwin and husband, Thomas of Birmingham, and Drew Thompson and wife, Summer of Natchez, and five great-grandchildren, Noah Goodwin, Rose Goodwin, Frannie Goodwin, Stratton Thompson, and John Henry Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at 5 p.m. at Church Hill United Methodist Church. Jinny’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church in Church Hill, MS. The service will be officiated by Rev. Sam Godfrey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Drew Thompson, Noah Goodwin, Noble Guedon, John Norris, Robert VanNewkirk, Daniel Case, Freddie Sandel, Bob Guedon, Louis Guedon, Mike Guedon, Frank Guedon, Robert Lewis, Mike Durr, Tate Taylor, Jimmy Frazier, Rodney Burkley, John L. Sullivan, and Mark Fyke.

Honorary pallbearers will be Delia Guedon, Mary Ed and Arch Guedon, Billy Davis, and members of Cypress Grove hunting camp.
