NATCHEZ – Frances McManus, Registered Nurse (retired) passed away on Feb. 16, 2024, peacefully with loved ones by her side at Merit Health in Natchez, MS.
Frances was born on Feb. 25, 1935, to the late Warren Charles Lyle and Mary Jane Holman in Yazoo City, MS. After her father died in 1939, her mother married the late Alvin Sant.
Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, James Murphy McManus. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Warren Lyle, Charlie Lyle, Rosa Lee Lyle and Druia Lyle (children of
Warren and his wife before marrying Mary Jane Holman), Mary Charlene Lyle Grantham, John Carl Lyle, David Kelly Lyle, Mary Catherine Sant Merten, and Lucille Carolyn Sant Wilson.
Francis is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends. Frances made an indelible impression on so many people with her love, kindness, and nurturing spirit. Frances made the world a better place to be in and she will live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched.
Frances was proud of her career as a Registered Nurse. In fact, she was one of the first employees hired at the Natchez Community Hospital in 1973. She was featured in a newspaper article along with a
picture of her turning off the lights for the last time when the hospital closed in 2015. She continued to work as a nurse for several more years before retiring.
Frances was a member of the same Church of Christ congregation all her adult life. The most recent location for their church is The Briarwood Church of Christ. Frances has always exemplified a faithful steward by generously giving her time, talents, and treasures to support her church and many other worthy causes. She was a true pillar of her church community.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez, MS with James Moore officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
