NATCHEZ — The Associated Press has reported many Americans are dealing with cellular outages on AT&T, Cricket Wireless, Verizon, T-Mobile and other service providers, according to data from Downdetector.
AT&T had more than 73,000 outages this morning, in locations including Houston, Atlanta and Chicago. Cricket Wireless had more than 13,000, the outage tracking website said Thursday. Verizon had more than 4,000 outages and T-Mobile had more than 1,800 outages. Boost Mobile had about 700 outages.
In Natchez, many have reported not being able to send and receive cell phone calls, although text message services seem to be working.
Robert Bradford, director of Emergency Management Services, said all emergency phone systems including 911 are up and running. However, some people with these cellular services have not been able to connect with 911 because of the outage.
“They are slowly getting services back up right now, but not all service is back up,” Bradford said. “I do not know what has caused this outage, but I know it involves a bunch of carriers.”
