MONTEREY, La. — An early Monday morning fire destroyed a house in Monterey off of Louisiana 907.
Chief Matt Taunton of Monterey Fire Department said that a passerby noticed the home burning at 350 Hwy 907 and called 911 just after 4 a.m. Monday.
“By the time we got there the house was already completely burned down,” Taunton said.
He added the homeowner had moved in with family members before the incident and the home was therefore vacant.
“The cause is undetermined because of the extent of the damage,” Taunton said.
Firefighters were on scene for about an hour keeping the blaze contained during the early morning. There were no injuries and no surrounding structures were damaged, he said.
