Safe Room to be opened as warming shelter during cold weather

NATCHEZ — Due to the cold hazard and freezing weather expected Monday through Wednesday morning, the Adams County Safe Room at 323 Liberty Road will be used as a warming shelter for those in need.
The shelter opens at 6 p.m. Monday and will remain available for as long as the freezing temperatures last through Wednesday, Emergency Management officials said.
Remember to bring any needed food, drink, medications blankets, and any other essential items. Small pets are welcome but must be kenneled.
Beginning Monday, Jan. 15, through early Wednesday, temperatures are expected to drop down with low temperatures in the teens and highs near or below freezing. Wind chills could be between Zero and 9 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday night could also bring freezing rain before 9 p.m. and then a chance of sleet after 3 a.m. Tuesday.
