NATCHEZ – Services for Ottis G. Havard Sr., 89, of Lake St. John, LA who died Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, in Ferriday will be 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home.
Ottis G Havard was born Oct. 11, 1934, in Gloster, Ms. He was the sixth child born to the late Edward Lee Havard Sr. and the late Addie Reeves Havard.
Mr. Ottis was a compassionate Christian man who loved the Lord and was dedicated and devoted to his wife, Martha Thompson Havard. Mr. Ottis had two sons, Ottis G. Havard Jr. “Guy” and the late Ronald Lee Havard and stepsons, Wayne, Bryan, and Gary Thompson, and a stepdaughter, Marilyn Jones.
Mr. Ottis worked 41 years at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and worked as a guard for the prison on Hwy 15 for 10 years. He also served in the US Army. He loved hunting in Roxie, MS, and fishing the Old River and Mississippi River.
He loved spending time listening to music. He also loved picking his guitar and singing in a country music band that he and his brothers put together.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Southern Havard; a son, Ronald Lee Havard; brothers, Edward, Walter, John, and Carol James and a sister, Josie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha; a sister, Camille; a son, Ottis G. Havard Jr. and his wife, Celestial Havard; two grandsons, four stepchildren, and twelve step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam Havard, Jeremy Havard, Bryan Thompson, Gary Thompson, Tyler Thompson, and Chris Moon.
