NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Nathaniel Smith Sr., 63, of Natchez, who passed away on Dec. 29, 2023, at Merit Health Natchez, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Mount Bruin Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Elvin Elmo Fry under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Burial to follow on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at Natchez National Cemetery.

Visitation services will be held Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez, and Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at the church from 10 a.m. until service time.

Nathaniel “Nate” was born on July 4, 1960, in Natchez, MS, to Thomas Campbell and Lucille Smith. Nathaniel was a veteran of the United States Army.

Nathaniel “Nate” is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Campbell, and Lucille Smith Brown; stepfather, Alonzo Walter Brown Sr.; one sister, Lillie Mae Badon; two brothers, Robert Brown, and Phillip Brown Jr.; one granddaughter, Khandis Smith; a special friend, Henry Floyd.

Nathaniel “Nate” leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Sandra Faye Kettley Smith; five daughters, Marquitta Smith Johnson and husband, James, Jalessa Smith, Sonia Smith, Tyneaqua Smith and Shanaye Smith, two sons, Nathaniel Smith Jr and Alonzo Smith; one sister, Dewana Myles Strauder; two brothers, Charles Brown, and James “Jimmy” Smith; two stepbrothers, Alonzo T. Brown and Walter Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
