NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Leon Daniel, 87, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, Dec. 24, 2023, in Hattiesburg, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. at West Gate Funeral Home (George F. West, Sr. Memorial Chapel) with Pastor Leroy White officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Leon was born Sept. 9, 1936, in Natchez, the son of Mose and Mary Daniels. He was educated in the Adams County School System. He was employed with Charity Hospital, George F. West, Sr. Funeral Home, and was retired from Waste Management. In his spare time, Leon enjoyed doing yard work, collecting memorable items, and pushing his wheelbarrows.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Elizabeth Daniels King and Mary Daniels Genes; granddaughter, Latoya White; and soulmate, Rosie Lee Thomas Chatman.

Leon leaves to cherish his memories: son, Leon Thomas, Sr. (Doris); sisters, Lorine Jackson and Susie Sims; grandsons, Robert White (Marquita) and Leon Thomas, Jr. (Lillian); granddaughter, Juanita Williams; six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
