Green Wave swept by Silliman, sweeps River Oaks

CLINTON, La. — Cathedral High School’s varsity boys’ and varsity girls’ basketball teams were swept by Silliman Institute last Monday afternoon as the Green Wave fell to the Wildcats 72-42 and the Lady Green Wave lost to the Lady Wildcats 56-40.
No other information on either of those games was available. Cathedral played host to Oak Forest Academy last Tuesday afternoon, but no information, including final scores, was available for any of the junior varsity and varsity games.
Cathedral next plays at the Amite School Center Tournament on Dec. 28 and 29.
Cathedral hoops teams sweep River Oaks last Friday
MONROE, La. — Grayson Gay had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Cathedral High School Green Wave held on for a 46-44 win over the River Oaks School Mustangs last Friday night.
Justin Hawkins had himself quite a game on both ends of the court as he finished with 12 points, six rebounds, 5 assists, and five steals. Gibson Hillyer contributed with 10 points and six rebounds.
The Green Wave trailed the Mustangs 15-10 at the end of the first quarter. But Cathedral responded by outscoring River Oaks 14-11 in the second quarter to go into halftime down just two points, 26-24. Then the Green Wave outscored the Mustangs 12-5 in the third quarter for a 36-31 lead.
River Oaks tried to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but fell just short despite outscoring Cathedral 13-10.
In the varsity girls’ game, Kinslee Young ad 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field to go with seven rebounds, five steals, and one block in the Lady Green Wave’s 42-32 win over the Lady Mustangs.
Cathedral jumped out to a 14-4 lead over River Oaks after one quarter of play and led by 17 points at the end of the third quarter. Marlie Hargon had eight points, nine rebounds, and six assists while Emery Cate Lewis added eight points, three rebounds, and one block for the Lady Green Wave.
