NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Charles Edward Walker, 84, of Natchez, who departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 2, 2023, in Natchez, will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the West Gate Funeral Home (George F. West, Sr. Memorial Chapel) with Pastor Leroy White officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 3:30 to 4:30 at the funeral home and will continue on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Charles was born on April 22, 1939, the son of Queen Ella Walker and Alex Walker. He received his master’s degree in history from Tuskegee Institute and he was a retired educator. In his spare time, he enjoyed exercising, reading, gardening, and other outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Prentiss Walker, Eugene Walker, and Ronnie Walker; and sister, Willie Mae Williams.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Annie L. Walker; son, Anthony Walker (Catherine); brothers, Clinton Walker (Sandra) and Otis Walker; sisters, Rebecca Powell (George) and Linda Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
