NATCHEZ – Celebration of Life services for Rev. Dr. Monroe Lee Ware, 84, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, in Jackson, LA will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ernest Ford, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will
continue on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
Rev. Ware was born April 9, 1939, in Natchez, the son of Lillie Pearl Cotton Ware and Ed Ware, Sr. He was a graduate of the Adams County Public Schools, Natchez Junior College, Delta Career College, and Newburg Theological Seminary. Mr. Ware worked in Natchez at the Ace Theater, Woods’ Security, and Alcorn State University and was a mail carrier in Chicago, IL. He served our country as a Vietnam Veteran. Rev. Ware was a deacon and Associate Minister at Zion Flower Baptist Church and later became Associate Minister at New Zion #1 Baptist Church. He also served in the Antioch Missionary Baptist Association as County Evangelist. He read the Holy Bible and wrote sermons. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family, listening to gospel music and watching television westerns.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Moses Ware, Tina Fitzgerald, Bowser Ware, Clara Franklin, Ed Ware, Jr. and Isabelle Gibson.
Survivors include his wife, Dr. Sarah Mazique Ware; daughter, Monique Ware Ellis (Corey, Sr.); stepson, Kendrick Cameron (Lakesha Mitchell); sister, Alberta Ware Selmon; sisters-in-law, Daisy Jackson Ware and Mamie Mazique Humphrey; grandchildren, Coriyanna, Corey, Jr., Kaylianna, and Kennedy Ellis, other relatives and friends.
