NATCHEZ – Funeral services for Lionell Sims, 65, of Natchez, who passed away on Nov. 25, 2023, at his residence, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Christian Hope Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor John Scott Jr. officiating under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Leesdale Cemetery.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez and on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, from 1 p.m. until the service time at the church.

Lionell was born on March 3, 1958, in Natchez, MS, to George and Mary Gladys Sims.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Mary Squalls Lewis; one brother, George Sims Jr.; and one sister, Carolyn D. Lewis-Chatman.

Lionell leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mary Sims; two daughters, Tora Matthews (Bert) Bush and Mary Gladys Sims; three sons, Lionell Matthews, Matthew Jackson, and Kar’terrious Sims; two stepchildren, Aisha Henyard and Joseph Griffin; two brothers, Charles (Beatrice) Sims and Willie Lee Sims; one sister, Rosie Lee Sims; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
