Feb. 15, 1946 – June 22, 2020

NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Don W. Ellis, 74, of Natchez, who died on Monday, June 22, 2020, in Natchez will be held at Natchez National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, with Rev. Birdon Mitchell.

Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Don was born Feb. 15, 1946, in Natchez, the son of Alexander H. Ellis and Roberta Wallace Ellis.  He was a member of the Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as steward pro-tem of the steward board, Sunday school scholar, a member of the Men of Zion Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. Mr. Ellis enjoyed playing guitar, piano, harmonica, watching the New Orleans Saints games, and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifton Earl Ellis and two sisters, Rose Mary Davis and Deloris Wade.

Don leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lena Ray Ellis; one daughter, Ashley Ellis, one grandson, Ashton Redden, special friend, Joan Perry; two brothers, Lloyd Ellis and wife Angela of Milwaukee, WI and Alexander Ellis and wife Marie of Natchez; one sister, Earvie McMillan and husband Therman of Fairburn, GA; one aunt, Ella Mae Smallwood of Natchez; sister-in-law, Jerry Dean Myles Ellis and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
