Bloom said she heard about the Norman Puckett Junior Championship from an email she received while playing in another golf tournament in Greenville.

Over the two days of play, Bloom made seven birdies and she made par on 22 of 36 holes played.

Meanwhile, Dixon of Madison won the Boys Overall division. Dixon said he has played in the Norman Puckett Junior Championship before.

In 2019, Dixon finished tied for third place. In 2018, he tied for 13th place.

“It was awesome winning the championship,” Dixon said. “I was trying to play my own game the entire round. I was watching the body language of the people in front of me but I was mostly worried about my game. I knew I was going to probably win it once I tapped in on the last hole.”

Dixon was 1-under par and had a three-stroke lead over Landon Germany of Brandon going into the final round of play on June 14.

As a whole, Dixon made six birdies, one eagle and 21 holes for par in 36-holes played over the two-day championship.
