NATCHEZ — Sunshine and blue skies await those who will be playing in the annual Beau Pré Club Championship that takes place this Saturday and Sunday at Beau Pré Country Club.
Beau Pré golf pro David Meyer said that tee times each day will go from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“We have 50 members playing in it. I don’t want to say who’s a favorite and who’s not a favorite,” Meyer said. “Tom Bryant won it last year and Dr. Craig Bradford won the senior division.”
As far as the competition will go, Meyer said he thins it will be a great tournament for the members.
“It will be a good tournament for our membership,” Meyer said. “It’ll be very competitive and it’ll be fun.”
What could make this year’s tournament interesting is the lack of practice the members have had because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to the course being closed for well over two months.
Meyer said, “It’s been kind of on and off. Not a whole lot (of practice), to be honest with you.”
He added that no spectators will be allowed on the course during the two-day tournament.
“Members watching members,” Meyer said. “It’s a members’ event. It’s not open to the public.”
