City, county, clergy to hold 3 p.m. press conference today on Floyd death

NATCHEZ — City and County elected officials and ministers will hold a joint press conference on the Wall Street side of the Adams County Courthouse at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) to address the homicide of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell, President of the Board of Supervisors Ricky Gray, Sheriff Travis Patten, Chief Walter Armstrong and Fire Chief Ventris Green will offer brief comments, a press release states.

“In unison, they will present a plan for our community to grieve together and to move forward together,” the press release states.

Leaders of the local faith community will offer prayers for comfort, guidance and encouragement, and members of the press and the community are invited to attend.

The conference will be held outside on the Wall Street side of the Adams County Courthouse.

The 100 block of Wall Street will be blocked off to traffic during this time.
