It is with a great honor that I write this letter of support for my classmate, soror, former co-worker and friend Joyce Arceneaux Mathis.

Joyce has been the alderwoman for Ward 1 for more than 20 years and has always been a strong, intelligent and dedicated alderwoman.

Upon entering politics, she adopted the motto “unbossed and unbought” and has definitely stayed strong and true to those words.

Joyce takes her job very seriously and she tirelessly works to help her constituents have a better quality of life.

4 Her accomplishments are too numerous to list; however, a few of her most noteworthy are listed below.

4 Secured over $3 million in appropriations to complete the North Natchez

4Drainage Project Phase II D

4Worked with the Board of Aldermen, Board of Supervisors, NASD School Board, recreation council, and the Community Development Committee to build a new swimming pool

4Secured over $1.6 million in NBCS-EWP funding for stabilization in her ward

Secured funds for SNAP grants to improve housing in her ward and the city of Natchez

Joyce continues to serve and is constantly finding new and innovative ideas to help her community.

Presently, she serves on the Save Sadie V. Thompson Project, the Restoration of Natchez College Project, the Revitalization of the Woodlawn Historic District Committee and several other religious services and performance committees.

Joyce’s record of accomplishments, her hard work ethic, her coalition of supporters in Ward 1, the city of Natchez make her the most electable candidate for alderwoman in Ward 1.

I without reservation fully support her candidacy and urge my fellow Natchezians to continue to support her as she seeks to serve our community as Alderwoman of Ward 1.
