Sunday update: Cases of COVID-19 increase across Southwest Mississippi

The number of COVID-19 cases rose across southwest Mississippi as residents continue to grapple with the spread of the virus.

Sunday morning the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 758 confirmed cases of COVID-29 in the state — an increase of 95 cases from Saturday. MSDH reported the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 increased by one  — a death in Wilkinson County — to 14 deaths.

On Saturday, Adams County Coroner James Lee reported the death of 49-year-old man who lived near the Wilkinson County/Amite County line. The man died at Merit Health Natchez.

MSDH reported Claiborne County’s first case of the virus. The number of Amite County cases increased from 1 case reported Saturday to four cases Sunday. Adams County cases increased by one case to seven cases. Wilkinson County cases increased to 12 cases — up one case from Saturday’s report.
