Next week Beau Pré Country Club is honored to be hosting the Women’s All Pro Tour (APT). I can think of no better way to celebrate Women’s History Month than by hosting the first professional women’s tournament ever to be held in Natchez.
This tournament will feature 90 professional golfers from around the world. Five of eight of the top money winners in women’s golf will be here including top money leader Binny Lee from Frisco, Texas, Britney Yada from Hilo, Hawaii, Riley Rennell from Columbia, Tennessee, Valeria Tanguay from Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, and Elaine Wood from Spanish Fort, Alabama.
The golfers will compete in a 72-hole stroke play contest, with a cut after 54 holes to retain only the top 40% of the starting field, including ties. The winner may win approximately $7,500, with the total purse covering all players in the final round.
The winner will receive an exemption into the Symetra Tour’s Windsor Classic in Windsor, California. The women playing in the APT are all aspiring to become players in the LPGA.
On Sunday, March 15, some of the players will participate in a “Shoot-out” in which players are eliminated hole by hole based on their scores. On Monday, March 16, a Pro-Am contest will be hosted by local businesses. Each sponsor will provide their team to play with the pros.
On Tuesday, March 17. through Friday, March 20, the APT tournament will take place and you are invited to come to Beau Pré and follow the golfers as they play their way around the course. Admission is free, so we hope that you will come out and gain some inspiration from these professional players while showing them true Natchez hospitality.
