Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church invites you to join us for the Pastoral Appreciation Celebration honoring our pastor The Rev. Joe W. Pickett and First Lady Minerva B. Pickett for 33 years of faithful and dedicated service to our church.
This is a special day in the life of our church. This will be a day of celebration for what the Lord has done in the life of God’s people through the life of Pickett, a devoted man of God.
This program is an event designed to celebrate Pickett’s vision in ministry. Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church acknowledges his obedience to the call of preaching the Word of God.
Jeremiah 3:15 states that “I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
This is exactly what Pickett has been doing for the past 33 years. In Romans 10:14, the Apostle Paul said, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” We are indeed fortunate and blessed that the Lord sent Pickett to preach the good news.
The task of a pastor is not an easy one and the responsibilities are large. His duties do not only include showing up at church on Sunday to preach a sermon or pray for the congregation.
This is why we also give honor and recognition to our First Lady, Minerva Pickett, who stands with him in unity and helps to support him in carrying out his roles and responsibilities of the church.
When the Lord calls a man into ministry, he calls the whole man and that includes his wife. Because of her love for the Lord and her husband we commend her for her out standing service and support for the past 33 years.
After 33 years, Pickett is still going strong, singing, preaching and teaching the word of God. Zion Hill’s members have felt the impact of his ministry in a powerful way. Pickett encourages his congregation to be faithful by attending Sunday Worship Services, Bible Study and Sunday Church School.
His vision is to empower his members to grow in faith and receive God’s Word so that they will be equipped to share the Word of God with others.
The committee has planned a dynamic program. Pastor LeReginald Jones and his choir of Woodville will be our special guests. We are inviting the general public to join us on Saturday, March 7, at 4 p.m. at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church, 349 Lower Woodville Road, as we celebrate this grand occasion.
Mary B. Williams is a member of Zion Hill #1 Baptist Church.
