Welcome back Natchez Bicycle Classic event

Natchez is a great tourist destination and it is about to revive an old event with a new twist to draw even more visitors — The Natchez Bicycle Classic.

Yes. The Natchez Bicycle Classic was a popular event in Natchez between 1989 and 2000 but fell by the wayside.

The Natchez Bicycle Classic race hit a peak in the early 1990s when it brought some 400 riders to Natchez to aid the “Keep Natchez-Adams County Beautiful” campaign.

The new version of The Natchez Bicycle Classic, however, will be much different from its predecessor.

It will not be a race at all but rather will be a ride.

Instead of taking place in town, riders will be able to take advantage of the beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway and riders will have options of the lengths and routes they want to take.

The event will also serve to attract visitors to downtown who will dine in local restaurants and shop in the local stores.

We think the reinvented Natchez Bicycle Classic is a great idea for Memorial Day weekend in Natchez, which will be May 23 this year.

We wish the organizers much success and hope the classic will once again become an annual event.
