Natchez — Funeral services for Laura L. Harris Jackson, 87, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, in Natchez will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Anderson officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today with a “Celebration of Life” wake service at 7:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Ms. Jackson was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Kingston, the daughter of Robert Harris, Sr. and Ethel Seiferth Harris. She was educated in the Kingston schools. Laura was retired from Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital and Natchez Regional Hospital after 39 years of service. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist church #2 where she served on the Mother’s Board. Laura enjoyed watching sports, attending church services and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, children, Carleen Lloyd, Forest Harris and Vernon Harris, Sr.; grandsons, Cartrell Watson and James “J.T.” West, Jr.; great-grandson, Anthony Nelson Harris; brothers, Robert Harris, Jr., Eddie Harris, Sr., Joseph Harris, Clarence “Arthur” Harris, Sr.; sisters, Stella Mock and Leotis Smith.

Laura leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Jerry Harris, Sr. and wife Francine; three daughters, Linda Kaye Watson, Sharon West and husband James T. and Aundrea Herrington and husband Clyde; one sister, Augustine Cox; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
