Ferriday — The celebration of life for Angel P. Hawkins, 41, of Ferriday, who died Feb. 15, 2020, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ferriday Junior High School gymnasium with Pastor Torrence Virgil officiating. The services are entrusted to Concordia Funeral Home.

Angel P. Hawkins was born June 24, 1978, in Columbia, Louisiana, the daughter of Ralph Peppers and Annie Louise Birdwell. She was a Supervisor at Durham School Services for Concordia Parish Schools and was the Worthy Matron of Jennie Tibbs Hagan #1193 OES, PHA, of Ferriday.  Angel was a loving, generous, adventurous and a life-loving woman.

Angel was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father; two brothers, Jerry Banes, Jimmy Peppers; one sister, Donna Peppers.

Her survivors include her mother; her husband, John Hawkins, Sr.; one son, Jabari Hawkins; one daughter, Jaila Hawkins, all of Ferriday; two step-sons, Joshua Hawkins, and wife, Qumeua, of Dallas, Texas, and John Hawkins, Jr., of Trenton, New Jersey; one step-daughter, Journey H. Collins and husband, Mason, of Pearland, Texas; one sister, Misty Bratton and husband, Bennie, of Olla, LA; one step-sister, Becky Dyess and husband, Kenny, of Jena, Louisiana; three brothers, Ben Banes and wife, Renee, of Olla, Louisiana, Carl Banes and wife, Della, Wayne Banes and wife, Gwendella, both of Spearsville, Louisiana; one aunt, Shirley Birdwell, of Ferriday; one uncle, Percy Birdwell, Jr. and wife, Angie, of Olla, Louisiana; a special friend, Johnathan Glover, of Opelousas, Louisiana; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a great niece and nephew.
