The efforts and contributions of local citizens — young and old — were on display last week.

Residents had the opportunity to see the future when they went to an open house hosted by the Adams County Airport Commission. During the open house, a new master plan was unveiled. The plan detailed numerous projects the facility needs to accomplish and creates a road map for how to achieve the goals in the next 20 years. The FAA uses airport master plans to provide funding for the facility. Thanks to those who had the foresight to create this critical tool for the future.

A group of Adams County Christian School artists used their creativity for a good cause recently. The students painted pictures of wildlife and then donated the artworks to Camp Kamassa, an all accessible camp for children and adults with special needs. Nineteen students created enough paintings to be displayed above each bed in the cabins that are currently being built for the camp near Crystal Springs.

Morgantown Middle School’s Kimori Bailey knows that great responsibility comes with wearing a crown. Bailey was recently named Miss Morgantown and is the Junior Beta Club president. Taking both positions seriously, Bailey demonstrated leadership by helping raise money for Finch Elementary School, which burned in a Nov. 3 fire in Wilkinson County. With her passion for helping others, we know that Bailey has a bright future. 

For the fourth year in a row, the American Legion has selected Natchez as the site of its Mid-Winter Conference. The Miss-Lou continues to be such an excellent host to this and other conferences, that groups keep coming back year after year. Thanks to all who have helped make our city a warm and welcoming place for visitors from across the globe.
