Louisiana municipal elections are just gearing up and they are about to close.
That’s right, the qualifying period opened Wednesday in Louisiana and will run through the end of today.
That does not give potential candidates a lot of time to drag their feet before getting the paperwork and fees submitted.
So far, many good candidates have qualified for municipal positions in the towns of Concordia Parish but the more candidates the better the selection for voters.
The elections will be decided in a primary on April 4 and a general election May 9.
Take this as a gentle reminder, potential candidates in Concordia Parish, get your paperwork in today or forever hold your peace.
On the Mississippi side of the river, potential candidates have a little more time to weigh their decisions as the qualifying period, which opened Jan. 2, runs through Feb. 7, giving prospective candidates plenty of time to do the paperwork and pay the fees.
Many good municipal candidates have already qualified in Natchez and most incumbents have already thrown their hats into the ring.
For potential Mississippi candidates, what are you waiting for?
Your community needs you.
May the best candidates win!
