Here’s a look at some of the good news items from the past week.

* The Vidalia Beautification Committee sponsored another spectacular fireworks display over the Mississippi River on New Year’s Eve to help the Miss-Lou ring in the New Year and the new decade.

The show was another delight and brought the community together to enjoy the spectacle.

* News broke last week that the former Ruby Tuesday facility on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive will be the new home County Pie, Historic Natchez Pizza Company.

The restaurant is the latest creation of the group of owners and proprietors of Roux 61.

We look forward to the opening and wish the new venture much success.

* Members of the Emerald Elites dance team from the Miss-Lou recently performed at a New Orleans Pelicans NBA game and had the chance to practice with and meet members of the Pelicans cheerleaders team.

Participating Emerald Elites included D’Nya White-Smith, Chloe Johnson, DeAsia Fleming, A’Mya Hoggatt, Taraji Richardson, CaMya Webster, Tiana James, Skylar Frazier and Alyssa Colvin.

Congratulations, Emerald Elites. You represent the Miss-Lou well.

The New Year has had plenty of good news the first week, and we look forward to more good news to come.

Happy New Year!
