PORT GIBSON— Services for Cornelius Ellis Jr., 68, of Port Gibson, who died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019. in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Port Gibson, with the Rev. Kevin Winters officiating.
Burial will follow at McCaa Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home – Fayette Branch.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. today and from noon until service time Saturday the church.
Mr. Ellis was born on Oct. 7, 1951, in Jefferson County, the son of Virginia Hedrick and Cornelius Ellis Sr.
He was a member of First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Port Gibson. His hobbies included hunting, cooking, fishing, and watching television.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Clem and JoAnna Hedrick; and one brother, Earl Jean Ellis.
Cornelius leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Charry Gibson; one son, Cornelius Ellis III; one daughter, Corlisaceya Hurd; two brothers, Willie Ray Ellis and Charles Lipscomb; five sisters, Maxine E. Graham, Shirley E. Stampley, Sandra Faye Lipscomb, Dr. JoAnn E. Walters and Betty Ellis; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
